A more proactive method of meeting the ideal person is to join one of the numerous online dating sites. For a fee, members can create their own profile, listing their interests, likes and dislikes, along with a flattering photograph. They may then arrange to meet other members, after first viewing their profiles and pictures in order to find their most compatible match. This method of finding Mr or Miss Right can often prove to be the safest and most successful.

Another method of meeting the right person is through mutual friends. This may be via an invite to a cosy dinner for four, or through shared activities or interests.

Sometimes, however, this may not be the most successful of methods, as some well-meaning friends may feel they have found the perfect match, whereas the participants may feel differently, making for an awkward atmosphere.
